    New Vick Rumors

    January 27th, 2010 by

Michael Vick It appears unlikely that the Philladelphia Eagles will pick up the contract option for Michael Vick next season accourding to sources with knowledge of the situation.  They would have to pay Vick just over 5 million dollars to retain him.  So where will he go?

As I mentioned in an earlier post, the Carolina Panthers and the Cleveland Browns were potential suitors, however sevearl new teams may be interested in him.

A good match for Vick could include Buffalo, Oakland or Jacksonville. Both teams are in smaller markets and Vick could help ticket/jersey sales. Both Buffalo and Jacksonville  have offensive standouts already but lack consistent QB play.

Buffalo would benefit from Vick coming to town much as they benefited from Terrel Owens coming last season. His arrival would bring some much needed media to town.

Jacksonville has dynamo RB Maurice Jones-Drew already, how scary would it be to see him and Vick in the same backfield?

Finally lowly Oakland would benefit because, well, they suck. Vick coming to the bay area would be a tremendous boost over struggling Demarcus Russel.

Only time will tell where Vick lands but until then, ain’t it fun to speculate?

    Patrice Cormier suspended for Season

    January 26th, 2010 by

Patrice Cormier’s illegal elbow to Mikael Tam during Sunday’s meeting between Rouyn-Noranda and Quebec has rocked the hockey world, and it seems only fair that it will rock Cormier’s career.

Cormier was drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the second round of the 2008 draft.  He was penalized three times in the last month for similar infractions.

Check out the hit here Cormier Illegal Hit.

Hockey has no place for players who choose to conduct the game in such a manner.

“It certainly looked intentional from the video footage, but even if Cormier truly didn’t intend to take Tam’s head off, that kind of nasty hit has no place in the game and should be reprimanded by QMJHL Commissioner Gilles Courteau.” said Chad Klassen of thebleacherreport.com.  “He’s already suspended Cormier indefinitely until he determines appropriate punishment, but Courteau should be slapping the Rouyn-Noranda forward with a lifetime ban.”

While I disagree with Klassen, I do recognized the need for sending a message that this will not be tolerated. Hockey is a finesse game, not a boxing ring made of ice.

    Couture Vs Coleman

    January 26th, 2010 by

UFC Hall of Famer’s Randy ‘The Natural’ Couture and Mark ‘The Hammer’ Coleman are set to face off February 6th.  This fight has been ten years in the making.

This fight is not as exciting as it might have been five or six years ago as Coleman is clearly past his prime. Coleman, age 45,  is coming off of a rare win against Stephen Bonnar. His conditioning has come in to question as he has looked gassed his past fights. He is sure to come in shape to challenge ‘The Natural’.Couture Vs. Coleman

Bolts to go on without L.T.?

    January 26th, 2010 by

The San Diego Chargers may need to find another RB to compliment Darren Sproles as they appear to be ready to say goodbye to Ladanian Tomlinson.

Tomlinson is owed a two million dollar roster bonus on March 1st, and the team most likely will let him go prior to that.

L.T., age 30,  is the Charger’s all time leading rusher. This season marked his lowest career numbers in attempts, rushing yards and recieving yards, as Sproles looks to be the RB of the future in San Diego.

Rex Ryan tired of losing to Manning

    January 26th, 2010 by

Jet's Coach Rex RyanRex Ryan has been here before. And hes not happy about it.

As quoted in the New York Post, “It’s a nightmare watching Peyton do that again to us. He’s cost me two Super Bowl rings. In 2006, when I was defensive coordinator in Baltimore, I thought we had the best team in the NFL that year; we were built to win it that year, and he beat me then and beat us now, this time, more convincing. Got kicked in the butt.”

Ryan added: “I’m tired of getting beat by him, you know what I mean? It’s just … he’s great. Maybe that’s my thing. Find a way to get him.”

After finishing second in the AFC the Jets are hoping to make it to the big game. However they may be without Thomas Jones next season who lead the team in rushing yards. He was unhappy with his pay last season and it appears unlikely that he will return.
